Impressive pitching performances deliver Baseball Collab the upperclass crown

Albuquerque, N.M. - The 2025 Pathway Albuquerque championship game opened with high energy and early runs. In the top of the first, Bradyn Santillanes drove in Bryson Weibler with a sacrifice fly to put Baseball Collab ahead 1-0. The Sticks answered quickly in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly from Isiah Mata to tie it at 1-1.

Pitching steadied the pace in the second for Baseball Collab. Dane Wyman struck out two to quiet the Sticks' bats, while Xavier Vasquez posted a scoreless frame of his own.

In the third, Collab's offense exploded. Jackson Martin delivered a clutch two-run single, and Jackson Elser followed with a triple down the first baseline to push the lead to 4-1. The Collab defense followed with a shutdown inning to protect the momentum.

After escaping a jam in the fourth, the Sticks couldn't contain Collab in the fifth. Bryson Weibler added an RBI, and a grounder up the middle from Martin — helped by a Sticks error — brought in two more runs, extending the lead to 7-1 and prompting a pitching change.

Carter Whitney took over on the mound for Baseball Collab, picking up where Wyman left off. He worked a perfect fifth, then watched his team go quietly in the sixth before shutting down the Sticks again to hold the score.

In the seventh, Collab delivered a ground-rule double off the bat of Jackson Martin — his third hit of the game to add insurance to their lead.

In the bottom half, Carter Whitney sealed the championship with authority. He struck out the first batter, caught a pop-up from the second, and after giving up a sharp double down the third base line, struck out the final batter to lock in the 7-1 victory.

"Week one of Pathway Albuquerque brought the heat. Every one of our 2025 Prospect Game selections showed out — seven of them even landed on the championship squad. We also spotted rising talent for 2026. From intense bracket play to a loaded final four, it was a competitive and high-level Upperclass week start to finish", said Pathway Baseball Event Director Fischer Giacone.

Pathway Albuquerque will continue June 15-19 for the underclass portion of the event at the Jennifer Riordan Spark Kindness Regional Sports Complex in New Mexico.

Pathway Baseball will then shift focus to upcoming events such as Pathway Omaha and Pathway Utah in the coming weeks, and continues to prep for the 2026 Pathway Prospect Games in San Diego in August, featuring the top unsigned players from the Pathway slate of events.
