Coach Stanley was born and raised in San Diego, CA. He was a part of the first graduating class of Canyon Crest Academy in 2008. At CCA, he played baseball all four years and earned two Varsity letters. He was a key to their success as he played shortstop and second base throughout his high school career. Scott also played basketball during his freshman and sophomore years.
After Coach Stanley graduated from CCA he went on to pursue his degree and play college baseball. In the fall of 2008, Coach Stanley attended San Diego Mesa Junior College until a major injury set him back and he had to sit out that year and recover. While recovering he worked out and got an opportunity to coach the JV team as an Assistant Coach at CCA for the 2009 season. After a long process, Coach Stanley ended up at Lamar Community College in Lamar, Colorado where he played for the Runnin' Lopes in 2010. In that season, they were ranked as high as #7 in the nation in the JUCO rankings and won their league, then made it all the way to the Regional Tournament to play the College of Southern Nevada; the same team Bryce Harper was on before he got drafted #1 overall in 2010. Coach Stanley transferred to Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely, Colorado, and played from 2010-2012. It was there that he got a scholarship to play infield for the Spartans. He had a very successful two seasons in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, one of the best Junior College conferences in America with College of Southern Nevada and Western Nevada, just to name a few. After he got his Associates Degree in Colorado, he transferred to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, a suburb of Oklahoma City. There he got a scholarship to play outfield for the Crimson Storm. He played for the Storm from 2012-2014 where he had an outstanding senior season, 2nd on the team hitting .351. He got his Bachelor’s Degree from SNU in Sports Management and plans on using his degree for a sports career in coaching college baseball. In Spring Training 2015, Coach Stanley was a Spring Training invitee with the San Diego Padres, in Peoria, AZ.
Coach Stanley's first head coaching job was back at his old alma mater, Canyon Crest Academy as the Freshman Head in 2016. He then moved schools and was the JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach at Sage Creek High School in 2017. He led his JV team to an overall record of 16-13 and led them to a school-best .307 Batting Average as well as a school-best 91 Stolen Bases.Â
In the Summer of 2016, Coach Stanley joined the Solana Beach Cardinals coaching staff and finished working for the organization in the Fall of 2019. He also coached with the Del Mar Powerhouse 14U team as an Assistant Coach from the Fall of 2017 to the Summer of 2018.
Coach Stanley spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Torrey Pines High School as the JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach. As the JV head coach, Coach Stanley’s overall record at TPHS was 43-17, and led his team to back-to-back Avocado West League Champions (2018, 24-7, and 2019, 19-10). He was also on the coaching staff that won the 2018 CIF San Diego Section Open Division Championship.
This is Coach Scott Stanley’s second season at San Diego Christian College and he’s currently working on his Master’s Degree at SDCC to become a Division 1 Head Coach in the near future. As one of the assistant coaches on the staff, Coach Stanley is the third base coach and works with the outfielders and hitters.
In his free time, Coach Stanley likes to watch sports, go to the beach, and hang out with his family and friends. He currently resides in the Del Mar area.Â
