Scott Haney is a highly respected figure in Utah high school baseball, currently serving as the head coach at Salem Hills High School in Salem, Utah. With a coaching career spanning over 36 years, Haney has established himself as a cornerstone of the state's baseball community. Under his leadership, Salem Hills achieved a historic milestone by capturing their first-ever 4A state championship in 2013, just five years after the program's inception.

Throughout his tenure, Haney has amassed an impressive record, with over 336 career wins as of the 2024–2025 season. His coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, teamwork, and player development, fostering a culture of excellence and resilience. This approach has not only led to on-field success but also helped shape the character and skills of countless student-athletes.

Haney's influence extends beyond the high school level. His son, Kirk Haney, played under his guidance at Salem Hills before advancing to collegiate baseball and eventually becoming the head coach at Utah State Eastern. This legacy underscores Haney's commitment to nurturing talent and promoting the sport's growth within the community.

In recognition of his extensive experience and keen eye for talent, Haney has been appointed as an official scout for Pathway Utah, a premier showcase event aimed at connecting high school players with collegiate programs. In this role, he will be helping identify and evaluate top prospects, with a specific focus on potential participants for the 2026 Pathway Prospect Games. His involvement reflects the trust placed in him by event organizers and underscores his ongoing dedication to advancing baseball in Utah and mentoring the next generation of athletes.
