Patrick Barrett

Pat Barrett joins the coaching staff at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a wide variety of experience at several collegiate levels. Most recently, he spent the 2021-2022 academic year as both the Pitching Coach/Assistant Recruiting Coordinator Texas A&M University Texarkana, an NAIA program located in Texarkana, Texas and as the Pitching Coach at Harford Community College, an NJCAA Division 1 program located in Bel Air, Maryland. 

Prior to both A&M Texarkana and Harford he spent two seasons as the Director of Baseball Operations/Player Development at Longwood University, an NCAA Division 1 school located in Farmville, Virginia where he helped with all aspects of the baseball program both on and off the field. His duties included handling the day to day operations of the baseball program as well as working with the coaching staff to incorporate the latest data and technology player development tools into the program. 

Prior to Longwood he served as the Pitching Coach at Franklin Pierce University, an NCAA Division II school located in Rindge, New Hampshire during the fall of 2019. Where he worked daily with pitching staff and designed individualized throwing routines

Prior to that, he spent one season as the Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at West Virginia Wesleyan College an NCAA Division II program located in Buckhannon, West Virginia. He led the recruiting efforts as his recruiting duties included attending off campus and hosting on campus showcase events as well as hosting on campus visits with prospective student athletes. His 2019 recruiting class finished in the top 100 in NCAA Division II according to Perfect Game. 

In the summer of 2018, he was the pitching coach for the Riverhead Tomcats of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League located on Long Island, New York where he coached players from several NCAA Division 1 programs and helped led the team to it’s first league championship in the 11- year history of the organization. 

He started his coaching career as the Pitching Coach at Albertus Magnus College an NCAA Division III school located in New Haven, Connecticut during the 2018 season
 
A native of Wantagh, New York. Barrett played collegiately for one season at Briarcliffe College before finishing his playing career at Virginia Wesleyan College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. During his playing days Barrett saw action in 19 games while making two starts as a left handed pitcher finishing his collegiate career with a total of 23.2 career innings. 

Barrett graduated with his Bachelors degree in Social Sciences with a concentration in Parks and Recreation from Virginia Wesleyan College in December 2017.
