Mumper

Marc Mumper

The newest member of the Air Force baseball coaching staff, Marc Mumper enters his first season as the Falcons volunteer assistant for the 2022 season.

"We are excited to have Marc Mumper join our staff," said Kazlausky. "Coach Mumper comes to us from Abilene Christian and brings tremendous energy as well as tremendous baseball knowledge. Marc, the son of a coach, has the presence and mindset that will be invaluable in developing our cadets to not only become the best baseball cadets, but more importantly developing our future war fighters in the U.S. Air Force."

Mumper comes from Abilene Christian University, where he assisted ACU in a variety of roles. Within the Wildcats program, Mumper began as the Director of Player Development in 2020, using advancement tools such as Trackman, PitchGrader, Synergy, Blast Motion, Baseball Cloud and other means of player assistance to better the ACU roster. He was promoted to an on-field role at the start of the 2021 season, as Mumper coached first base for the Wildcats and was tasked with coaching the infielders. His duties also included coordinating camps for ACU.

Mumper's collegiate coaching career began in 2019, spending one season as an assistant coach at Metropolitan State University of Denver. There, Mumper also was the first base coach for the Roadrunners, working with the Metro State infielders and hitters, and aided the program's recruiting efforts. His forward-thinking background helped to institute a more analytical foundation for the Roadrunners program as well. Mumper spent the 2020 summer as an assistant coach in the Northwoods League, utilizing his expertise with the Rochester Honkers.

A 2019 graduate of Grand Canyon University, Mumper played all four seasons for the Lopes. A three-year starter at shortstop and a one-time team captain at GCU, Mumper won two Western Athletic Conference titles in his four seasons, appearing in 157 games. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 37th round as a prep prospect out of Mountain Vista High School in the 2015 MLB Draft. Mumper's father, Dave, coached high school baseball in Colorado for 32 years, and is in the Colorado Dugout Club Hall of Fame.

The 25-year-old received his Bachelor's degree in communications from Grand Canyon University, and is in the midst of completing his Master's degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Positive Coaching from the University of Missouri, with an anticipated completion date later this year.
