The Claflin University baseball program entered a new era when head coach Jaylan Bledsoe took the reins. Joining the staff in January of 2024, Bledsoe will look to lead the program to new heights.

Bledsoe is a native of Grenada, Mississippi, where he was an elite three-sport athlete (baseball, football, and basketball) and later coached baseball there for two years. He played his collegiate baseball at Jackson State University where he was named to the Preseason Players to Watch list as well as receiving All-SWAC honors and SWAC Tournament recognition.
Before Jackson State, he played for Kenny Dupont at the fifth-ranked Holmes Community College where he was a MACJC First Team All-State selection as a freshman and sophomore.Â

Bledsoe began his coaching journey at Mississippi Delta Community College as an assistant coach with head coach Luke Stanley in 2020. He later accepted a position as the hitting coach/recruiting coordinator for Mississippi Valley State University where he spent two years working with head coach Milton Barney.

Bledsoe is the father of three children Azia, Alijah, and Jayce Bledsoe.
