Moore

Cullen Moore

Cullen Moore begins his third season as an Assistant Coach for the Saints, with this marking his first as Director of Pitching and Recruiting Coordinator, for the 2021 season. He also assists the Head Coach in all aspects of the program including recruiting, practice/game-day management, and travel administration, as well as overseeing academics and community service.

Moore has spent the last two seasons with the Saints, as their Graduate Assistant Coach, before being retained as a full-time Assistant Coach for the 2021 season.

In 2020, the Saints were off to arguably their best start in program history prior to the COVID-19 shutdown. Moore helped lead Marymount to a 13-6-1 record that included a 10-3 mark on the team's home field, but the Saints were unable to complete any Atlantic East Conference action in the abbreviated season. In the shortened season, he guided a pitching staff that saw four players boast an earned-run average below the 3.00 mark. The Saints also have five pitcher average more than 10 strikeouts per nine innings. Matthew Schneider was named to the VaSID All-State first team, after posting a 3-0 record, three saves, and a 1.23 ERA.

Moore also oversaw the Saints community service efforts in 2020. He directed the Saints' 7 Days of Service program, in which the team partnered with several community organizations and participated in over 750 hours of team community service.

In his first year guiding the pitching staff, the Saints led the Atlantic-East Conference in strikeouts (314) and shutouts (3), both program records. Moore saw two pitchers named to All-Conference teams in his first year. Sophomore Ryan Bergenhagen and Senior Conner Hall were both named to the All Conference First-Team. Bergenhagen led the Atlantic-East Conference in 2019 with Innings Pitched (65.2), Strikeouts (58), Wins (seven), and was top 5 in ERA (3.98). Hall had 38 strikeouts in 24.1 IP for the Saints on his way to tying for the conference lead in saves with five.

A graduate of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, he was a four-year member of the pitching staff. His class amassed 125 total wins, two ODAC championships, two NCAA DIII Regional Tournament appearances, and one NCAA DIII World Series Appearance over four years. Moore had 30 appearances in his collegiate career, including his only career start in Macon's final 2018 NCAA DIII World Series game against the eventual National Champion, University of Texas-Tyler. In the summer of 2018, he was the Head Coach for the Church Hill Patriots of the Piedmont Collegiate Baseball League in Richmond, Va., and he returned to coach them in the summer of 2020.

Coach Leoni offered, "We are very fortunate to get a hungry, young coach like Cullen that has a very good foundation of coaching knowledge from which to build. He is no stranger to Marymount, as we recruited him out of high school. Not only did we think he could be a solid college pitcher, but we were very impressed with his strong work ethic and tough mentality. I'm sure Cullen will bring both attributes as a coach to our program, in particular our pitching staff."

Cullen is a native of Stafford, Virginia and graduate of North Stafford High School where he was a three-year letter winner and two-time All-Region selection. Cullen graduated from Randolph-Macon College with a B.S. in Biology, and he graduated with his MBA from Marymount in 2020.
