Craig Jones

Craig Jones

Coach Craig Jones was the 1995 CIF Southern Section Player of the Year at La Quinta High School setting the state record of winning 15 games without a loss (won all 5 playoff games including the Division 3 Championship at Angel Stadium). Out of high school, he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 39th round of the MLB draft but opted out and accepted a full scholarship to USC where he won the National Championship in 1998. He later signed with the Kansas City Royals in the 16th round of the MLB draft. Coach Jones tore his ulnar nerve in his pitching elbow in single-A that required Tommy John surgery. After his surgery, he decided to retire from Professional Baseball and pursued a career as a police officer. After an injury that occurred on duty in 2018, Coach Jones medically retired as a police officer and returned to Baseball. He then became the pitching coach at Westminster High School for a season. Coach Jones was named Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Westminster High School in 2019 and 2020 team. Coach Jones has also coached alongside Justin Sellers at CBA Orange County Dirtbags from May 2020 to the present where he serves as the Head Coach of the U18 and U17 teams.
