University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis welcomes Cole Doherty as the pitching coach for the inaugural baseball program beginning in 2022-23.
Doherty comes to UHSP from Lincoln Christian University in Illinois, where he spent a season as an assistant coach for the Red Lions. During his year as pitching coach, the Red Lions won the most games in school history and boasted the first all-conference player in five years.
Prior to coaching at LCU, Doherty was the head coach at Cameron High School in Missouri.
He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Odessa High School (Mo.), winning two district championships. Doherty helped guide 11 all-conference players and three all-state players during his tenure.
Doherty played collegiately at Southwest Baptist University (Mo.) and Park University (Mo.). He was a three-year starter and managed to secure a spot on three all-time top ten lists: Career Pitching Appearances, Career Saves, and Single Season Saves. Doherty also led the team his senior season, hitting a team-best .333 and as a career-.280 hitter.
In 2017, Doherty earned his bachelor’s degree in Middle School Education with a mathematics emphasis from Park University. Then, in 2019, Doherty received his master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from William Woods University (Mo.).
