Coached as an assistant at Virginia Wesleyan from 2003-07, guiding the pitching crew
Helped VWC pitchers to rank No. 2 nationally in ERA with a 2.19 mark in 2003, when the Marlins set a program record for victories in a 34-9 finish
He was part of five winning campaigns at VWC, highlighted by back-to-back 30+ win seasons in 2003 and 2004; VWC won three ODAC post-season titles during Francis' stay with the Marlins, who advanced to the NCAA tournament three times
Coached as an assistant at Division II Mansfield University (Pa.) where he helped guide the Mountaineers to a pair of 30+ win seasons and an NCAA tournament appearance
Coaching experience includes stops as an assistant at the University of Rochester and Ithaca; helped UR to a pair of ECAC titles and an NCAA appearance in 1999, and helped Ithaca to three straight Empire 8 Conferene crowns and three NCAA tournament berths
Played baseball for Ithaca, where he was part of three teams that qualified for the NCAA tournament; the 1994 squad competed in the NCAA College World Series
