Chris Francis

  • 1997 graduate of Ithaca College
  • Previous head baseball coach at Division II College of St. Rose in Albany, New York
  • Coached as an assistant at Virginia Wesleyan from 2003-07, guiding the pitching crew
  • Helped VWC pitchers to rank No. 2 nationally in ERA with a 2.19 mark in 2003, when the Marlins set a program record for victories in a 34-9 finish
  • He was part of five winning campaigns at VWC, highlighted by back-to-back 30+ win seasons in 2003 and 2004; VWC won three ODAC post-season titles during Francis' stay with the Marlins, who advanced to the NCAA tournament three times
  • Coached as an assistant at Division II Mansfield University (Pa.) where he helped guide the Mountaineers to a pair of 30+ win seasons and an NCAA tournament appearance
  • Coaching experience includes stops as an assistant at the University of Rochester and Ithaca; helped UR to a pair of ECAC titles and an NCAA appearance in 1999, and helped Ithaca to three straight Empire 8 Conferene crowns and three NCAA tournament berths
  • Played baseball for Ithaca, where he was part of three teams that qualified for the NCAA tournament; the 1994 squad competed in the NCAA College World Series
  • 1997 second team All-Region honoree and recipient of the Carlton "Carp" Wood Award for Attitude
  • Francis and his wife Meghan have a son, Christian, and a daughter, Lillian
