Brian joined the baseball staff of the Hawks in the fall of 2015 as a part time assistant and moved into the pitching coach role prior to the 2016 season. Schroeder took over the reins in January of 2017.
As the pitching coach in 2016, the Hawk staff improved their team ERA by over 2 runs a game, finishing the campaign with a 3.82 mark
In 2017, under Schroder’s guidance the Hawks led the conference in team batting average, posting a .295 for the season.

Schroeder brings a long history of involvement in Sothern California baseball to the program.
Coach Schroeder enjoyed his own success in a playing career that began by prepping in nearby El Cajon, CA at Christian High School. A four-year letter winner, Schroeder left with a section record of 34 career wins and was named to an All-American team following his senior season. He also posted school records with 346 career strikeouts on the mound and hit 12 homes runs.
Brian then attended UCLA where he spent three seasons (2004-2006) on the mound for the Bruins. During the 2005 season, he appeared in 31 games, throwing 71.2 innings and was rewarded by being named the teams Pitcher of the Year. That summer he played for the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League, where he was awarded a Silver glove for defensive excellence.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Schroeder in the 33rd round of the 2006 draft. After a little over 1 season in professional baseball, Brian retired from playing and returned home to San Diego. He began serving with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and remains involved with the ministries camp operations.
Coach Schroeder also spent 5 years coaching high school baseball in East County with stints at Valhalla and Helix.
Brian returned to school to earn a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Southern California Bible College and Seminary. Brian, his wife Dianna, and their four children reside in Lakeside, CA.
